IT Leaders breakfast on ITIL wth SureSkills

Attendance levels at the SureSkills “Benefits of ITIL®” complimentary breakfast briefing on Thursday 18th February demonstrated the continuing requirement for cost justification within the IT industry. The event was arranged by SureSkills to provide their customers and partners with insight into the relevance and value of the ITIL® framework for organisations seeking to meet the challenges of the current economic climate. It was attended by a cross section of large and small, public and private sector organisations. The event was facilitated by Bill Heffernan, a renowned expert with over 20 years service management experience. Bill delivers both SureSkills accredited ITIL® training to expert level and also delivers consulting services.

The session provided an overview of the ITIL® V3 service management framework, explaining the key components of the framework and highlighting differences between version 2 and 3. Bill then used real world examples from prior projects to demonstrate the value which can be achieved by leveraging guidance from ITIL®. The examples ranged from cost saving initiatives in a medium sized enterprise to programmes of activity to transform both public and private sector organisations. The final segment of the presentation focused on providing pragmatic advice on how to tailor guidance to fit your organisation, highlighting critical success factors and potential pit-falls.


Commenting on the breakfast session Ross Bolton, SureSkills Sales Director said “As the largest provider if ITIL training in Ireland we are delighted to host this event – the level of interest in ITIL is at an all time high. The continuing requirement for cost justification within the IT industry is the single biggest issue for managers; the ITIL framework is an important step in addressing this issue”.

The adoption of ITIL® within an organisation requires the development of internal capabilities, aligned with on-going improvement. The Q&A session for the forty attendees which concluded the event addressed education options to develop the internal capabilities and strategic roadmap considerations, including how to achieve quick wins to deliver immediate benefits.

ITIL V2.0 OGC Announcement reminder

As one of Ireland's leading providers of ITIL and Prince2 Foundation and Manager training SureSkills is keen to remind all customers that the OGC (Office of Government Commerce) has announced that the ITIL product set will be managed as follows:
a. Withdrawal will be product based, with all language variants for individual qualifications and publications being removed at the same time.
b. Removal of version2 will complete on 30 June 2011. Specific product withdrawal will be as follows:
V2 Foundation to cease 30 June 2010
V2 Manager to cease 31 August 2010
V2 Practitioner to cease 31 Dec 2010
Foundation Bridge to cease 31 Dec 2010
