PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) is the world’s most practiced project management method.

Established and proven as best practice in project management, PRINCE2 guides you through the essentials of running a successful project. Tailor it to meet your organisation or industry-specific requirement.

PRINCE2 Foundation Level

The foundation qualification gives you the knowledge and understanding to work effectively with, or as a member of, a project management team in a PRINCE2 environment. The foundation qualification is also a prerequisite for the Practitioner qualification.

Examination Format

  • Multiple choice examination questions

  • 75 questions per paper

  • Five questions to be trial and not counted in scores

  • 35 marks required (out of 70 available) to pass - 50%

  • One hour's (60 minutes) duration

  • Closed book.




PRINCE2 Agile Level

PRINCE2 Agile™ has been developed as a single-tier Practitioner qualification. The purpose of the Practitioner qualification is to demonstrate that you can apply and tailor PRINCE2 Agile in a scenario situation. A successful Practitioner candidate will be able to start applying the method to a real project but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Individual project management expertise, complexity of the project and the support provided for the use of PRINCE2 Agile in will all be factors that impact what can be achieved.

Examination Format

  • Objective testing

  • 50 questions each worth one mark

  • 30 marks or more required to pass out of 50 questions - 60% pass mark

  • 2 and a half hours’ (150 minutes) duration, no additional reading time

  • Open book exam (official PRINCE2 Agile guide only).

PRINCE2 Practitioner Level

The Practitioner qualification affirms that the candidate has achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor PRINCE2 in a scenario situation. A successful Practitioner candidate will, with suitable direction, begin applying the method to a real project but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Individual project management expertise, complexity of the project and the support provided for the use of PRINCE2 in their work environment affect what the Practitioner can achieve.

Examination Format

  • Objective testing

  • Eight questions - 10 question items per question, each worth one mark

  • 44 marks or more required to pass (out of 80 available) - 55%

  • 2 and a half hours’ (150 minutes) duration, no additional reading time

  • Open book exam (official PRINCE2 manual only).

PRINCE2 Professional Level

The PRINCE2 Professional qualification is the next level for PRINCE2 Practitioners. This level will test your ability to manage a non-complex PRINCE2 project across all aspects of the project lifecycle.

Examination Format

  • Two-and-a-half day residential Assessment Centre

  • Group activities and exercises

  • Based on a fictional project case study

  • Assessment is against 19 individual performance criteria (there is no written examination).
