The beginning of a major period of VDI adoption

Chief Technical Officer of SureSkills Kevin Reid felt that the pent up demand for VDI can only be good. ‘‘I think this reinforces our view that this is a growth area with high potential. That it is early in the cycle for most respondents is great," said Reid, as it gives vendors and implementers time to ensure that their resources are ready to support organisations as they embark on pilots and full projects.

While 2013 may not necessarily be the big year for desktop virtualisation in Ireland, it is certainly likely to be the beginning of a major period of adoption that will likely culminate in the run up to the end of XP support in April of next year. With the wisdom gained from other, more advanced markets, the developing technology itself and the consequent emergence of best practice, Ireland looks set to have a supportive environment for organisations that make the move.
